The paper is concerned with the dynamic modelling of the unconventional remotely-piloted Lighter-Than-Air vehicle patented by Nautilus S.p.a. Emphasis is placed on those innovative and peculiar aspects of the dynamic modelling, such as aerodynamic and inertial features, propellers, ballonets and gyroscopic effects. The dynamic modelling represents the first step in the development of a refined Flight Simulator for the Nautilus airship. The availability of a complete and flexible simulation tool is essential to analyze the dynamic characteristics of this unconventional vehicle for the design, test and implementation of the most suitable flight control laws.
